As encores for their December 18, 1976 Hampstead, NY recital, Roberta Peters sings „Matchmaker, matchmaker.. Sunrise, sunset“ followed by Jan Peerce (aged 72!) singing „If I were a rich man.. Tradition, „and to finish the recital both sing „To Life/L’Chaim,“ all from Bock’s „Fiddler on the Roof.“ Allen Rogers is on piano and this is of course an „in house“ recording. Unfortunately to make the video under 11 minutes I had to cut out some of Peerce’s intro where he said they were in the back searching for the music!

Thank you SO much for posting this: it was not only a lot of fun to listen to, but very well-sung, too. Good to hear a WOMANLY Peters with the "body" in her voice that time and experience give (and she had just sung Oscar at the Met in fall of 1975: amazing!!). Peerce: what a personality and what a voice, with the playing facility for Tevye that his Broadway run in the role brings to this performance. BRAVO, BRAVO, BRAVISSIMO to both artists, and to their accompanist, too!!

As always They all did so well. My only problem is with matchmaker, I'm not so sure it's a song that puts her voice at it's best. increase the speed by double or 150% and I think she would have rocked it. Still, Sunrise Sunset Ah! My chest! Beautiful.
